Hey babes! Ive been away this weekend on a study bender. Last exam tomorrow! But check out what i made๐ It's been a while๐ I've been staring at the stars (but... Actually though๐-swipe left) What's something youve accomplished since I've been gone? UPDATE ME ON YOUR LIFE I MISS YA'S ๐ฅบ๐ฉ (ik its only been 4 days but im normally on here everyday) This is PGC69327. I didn't even have to look up the name because of how many times I had to type it into IRAF and DS9 ๐ฉ muscle memory babyyy. It's not the prettiest photo you've ever seen, but it's mine. This was a course final project for my Galaxies and Universe course and I am so proud of it. Did I mention it was 187MLYR away??? At first I was bummed out it didn't look like all the amazing (every band / filter) photos you can find on google or NASA, but that's my expectations getting ahead of the PURPOSE of this assignment. I had to use a couple different methods of processing to measure weather or not this Galaxy was an AGN (Black Hole centre). Spoiler: it was! Like any learning process I did a lot of trial and error, gave up about 3 times, and took up ALL of my profs' office hours. ๐๐ง๐ Also like any beginner, I'm trying to manage expectations. Noone starts as a Hubble, Sagan, or Messier. Im being mindful of WHY I'm actually doing something, not rushing through it to get an IG worthy post. I'm loving the science behind the photos, instead of merely fawning over aesthetics. Sorry about the school break. I really needed it though. ๐ฅฐ
