I remember sitting in the waiting room anticipating my first interview. There was another applicant next to me, and she was gorgeous and seemed very qualified for the job. All of a sudden a man approached the two of us. He wasn’t dressed particularly nice, and he seemed very ordinary. He had a standard, but friendly conversation with the two of us. The beautiful applicant next to me kind of shrugged him off, she almost seemed annoyed at his presence there, but I continued to talk with him and learn about him. Before he left the room he reintroduced himself and handed me his business card. He was the CEO of the company. I was taken back, but I tried to hide my shock. I thanked him for his time as he left and looked over at my competition for the job.. She was just as shocked to learn he was the CEO as I was. I was very pleased with myself for taking the time to be friendly with him, and even more pleased when I got the job. All that to say, you never know who you’re talking to! It’s (almost) always a gift to learn about a stranger.🎁
