12/1 update - found an oven at HD for $589! Still waiting on FEMA and insurance. I appreciate any help you are able to provide. Thank you to those that have already helped.
Hi y’all. I have an odd ask! I’ve been without an oven since Hurricane Milton. I’ve been stuck in a loop with FEMA and insurance waiting for an inspection, determination and payment. With thanksgiving approaching, I really need/want an oven so I can cook our meal. I never thought I’d miss home cooked food so much but after a month and half, I really miss it. -L

Good morning. Well Wednesday night was the second scariest night of my life! The wind and rain battering the house was so loud and the tornado warnings were non stop! We’ve been without power now for 37 hours and limited cell and no Wi-Fi. House is fine but debris pick up will take days! Fence is gone. There were live wires blowing around and I’m pretty sure they fried the wiring in the house as we smelled smoke immediately. Keep the positive thoughts coming PLEASE. xoxo-L

Need some help. Which direction should I hang these shutters? They are 26 inches by 12 feet. I’m not removing the decorative shutters and there is a protruding sill at the bottom of the window. Any advice greatly appreciated.

It’s Saturday! Not sure what to think or say as there are so many emotions related to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. While my family is safe and our home didn’t have any damage, much of my town was destroyed. In addition, my family in NETN and western NC have lost everything. I have close friends, here and there, unaccounted for at this time.

Almost started this with good morning and looked at the time and saw it is already 1 PM. I hope you have a decent “hump day”! For me, it’s all about hurricane prep today. Moving Margot to a secured covered location and prepping meals that can be stored in a cooler in the event we lose power and water.
